Project HEAL: Nourishing Communities with Plant-Based Meals
Breaking the Cycle of Poverty, Ill-Health, and Homelessness
About Project HEAL
Founded in summer 2018, Project HEAL (Healthy Eating and Living) addresses a critical need: 41 million Americans struggle with hunger, and 553,742 people experience homelessness on any given night. Through plant-based nutrition and community engagement, we fight both hunger and chronic disease simultaneously.
Why Plant-Based Nutrition?
Plant-based diets are proven to reduce the risk of heart disease, type-2 diabetes, and obesity — the very conditions disproportionately affecting underserved communities. By providing healthy, wholesome meals, we nourish bodies and educate communities about the power of food as medicine.
Our Impact
Thousands of healthy lunches and dinners served across Boston, Portland, San Francisco, and Seattle. During COVID-19 alone, we served 30,000+ meals in partnership with local restaurants.
Project HEAL in India
Combating the rising tide of Type-2 Diabetes in India, we advocate for plant-based diets through community education workshops and partnerships with local healthcare providers.
Ambassador — Arun Bhardwaj
Ultra-marathon runner Arun Bhardwaj completed the Sankara Run — 250km through rural Tamil Nadu in October 2019 — reaching 15,000+ students and 250 police officers with HEAL's nutrition message.
Project HEAL San Francisco
Partnered with Martin De Porres House of Hospitality — approximately 300 meals per week.
Project HEAL Boston
Started summer 2018. Serves East Boston Soup Kitchen and 8 shelter partners across Greater Boston.
Project HEAL Seattle
Launched August 2019. Partners with 6+ shelter and support centers. Distributes 700+ peanut butter sandwiches per month.
