About Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Shankara Hospital, Ratura

Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Shankara Hospital stands at Uttara Kanchi, Ratura, on the Badrinath National Highway in Rudraprayag District, Uttarakhand. Established under the aegis of the HH Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal Golden Jubilee Charitable Trust, it serves the rural communities of the district and the pilgrims who travel through the region. The hospital stood largely non-operational for several years after the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022 the Trust began a comprehensive effort to revive it, guided by Jagadguru Pujyashri Shankara Vijayendra Sarasvati Shankaracharya Svamiji of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. Four years of refurbishment followed — modern equipment installed, infrastructure strengthened, statutory approvals pursued, staff recruited, governance established — and the hospital was formally inaugurated on 23 August 2026.
